Outline 3—March 2008 The Final Judgment
I. Seven bowls of wrath (Revelation 15–16)
A. Seals, trumpets, and bowls
1. The seventh trumpet judgment expands into the bowl group of judgments. This is the last group at the end of the Tribulation period.
2. Tribulation believers who refused the mark of the Beast and were martyred are standing on the sea of glass. Seven angels come out of the temple in heaven.
B. The final judgments (Revelation 16)
1. The seven bowl judgments include malignant sores coming upon people, the oceans turning to blood, rivers turning to blood, scorching heat, painful darkness, the drying up of the Euphrates, and a worldwide earthquake and terrible hailstorm.
2. All this precedes the destruction of
Babylon
and the Battle of Armageddon.
II. Judgment on
Babylon
(Revelation 17–18)
A. Religious
Babylon
(Revelation 17)
1. The Antichrist develops a one-world religion out of the mystery religions of
Babylon
. It is really witchcraft packaged in spirituality.
2. This religion is called a “harlot” because it seduces. It is full of wealth and persecutes all believers in Christ.
3. The Antichrist will first unite then destroy this system.
B. Political
Babylon
(Revelation 18)
1. Just like religion will be brought into a one-world system to serve the Antichrist, so will politics and the world’s economy. God will judge the world system’s immorality and pride.
2. Babylon may be a literal city rebuilt in
. It may be
Rome
as a revived capital. It will be the commercial center of the world and the Antichrist. Slavery will be revived, something already occurring worldwide.
3. In one hour, perhaps by earthquake or tidal wave,
Babylon
will be obliterated.
III. Victory of the Lamb (Revelation 19)
A. Hallelujah (vv. 1–6)
1. This is the only mention of the word hallelujah in the New Testament. It is reserved four times for the victory that happens at the end of the Tribulation period.
2. The marriage of the Lamb has three phases: engagement (our lifetime), His coming (the ten virgins, the Rapture), and the marriage feast (seven days of feasting). We will be without spot or wrinkle.
B. Jesus’ second coming (v. 11)
1. He appears on a white horse, crowned and clothed in majesty and might (vv. 11–13).
2. He has an entire army from heaven with Him (v. 14).
3. His authority is invincible and indisputable (vv. 15–17).
C. Armageddon (vv. 19–21)
1. The Beast and the False Prophet are thrown into the lake of fire.
2. The army of heaven totally defeats the evil army of the world. |
