I. The return of Christ (Revelation 19)
A. With His Bride (vv. 6–7)
1. These words begin the final section of Revelation: “Let us rejoice.” Satan’s seeming victory through the Antichrist is suddenly reversed, and the church in heaven rejoices. 2. Christ leads the armies of heaven to Armageddon, where the Antichrist and False Prophet are defeated as well as the huge army they deceived into battle there. They are both cast into the lake of burning sulfur (v. 20).
B. The day of the Lord (Zechariah 12–14)

1. Satan will be bound (vv. 1–3), and Earth will be perfect. 2. The Tribulation martyrs will resurrect (vv. 4–6), and everyone in the first resurrection will reign. 3. Satan will deceive the world again and be judged (vv. 7–10). 4. All the unsaved will be at the Great White Throne (vv. 11–15).
II. The new heavens and new earth (Revelation 21–22)
A. The New Jerusalem (21:1–2)
1. The city of 2. John saw the city come down from God to Earth. It was as clear as crystal, with 12 gates and 12 foundations (Jewish tribes and 12 apostles). It was 12,000 furlongs (1,500 miles) on each side, and the wall was 144 cubits tall (215 feet). It was as high as it was wide, like a cube or pyramid. 3. Somehow the new earth will be populated with nations and kings, all saved and worshipping in the New Jerusalem. B. Eternity (Revelation 22)
1. The water of life and the tree of life will provide endless life and immortality. The curse of sin and death will be gone and
2. We will serve Him (v. 3), giving indication of divine missions for God. We will finally be able to see God (v. 4).
C. Jesus’ final exhortations (Rev. 22:6–21)
1. Three times, Jesus says, “I am coming quickly” (vv. 7, 12, 20). “The time is at hand” (v. 10) means we must be ready, for our entrance into eternity will be fixed. 2. No one will ever enter the New Jerusalem in sin (vv. 14–15). 3. The message of the Spirit and the church is “Come” (v. 17). Anyone can get saved right now. We must guard our names in the Book of Life by honoring God’s Word. |
